Sketching up facts on Grus-grus – after watching the huge birds fly over me
Drawn notes on Cranes
Text and drawing by Frits Ahlefeldt
They are huge and elegant birds that can fly up to 10.000 meters ( 33.000 feet ) and known for their monogamous sticking together for life attitude and their beautiful dances
Hearing their loud calls I looked up to see them fly over my head, much lower than I’ve seen before. But I had also hiked to a place they are known to be seen: An island called Bornholm, far out in the Baltic Sea.
Sketch notes on the Common crane, also called Eurasian crane
