The Danish parliament (Folketinget) is situated on an island in central Copenhagen, with the city and water closely all around it
Painting the Danish parliament
Watercolor and text by Frits Ahlefeldt
When living here, you don’t think about it much, how central the parliament is placed, and within close walking distance of the main museum, walking streets and still on an island, connected with countless bridges, closely weaving everything together
The place in front is almost always empty, apart from a small group in a corner, that have been here for years, protecting against war. On other days the place fills with protesters or events, all shouting their messages, singing, while who knows is watching from the windows of the Parliament. Sometimes even coming out to join.
