The Scientist as conductor

Some leaders consider themselves music conductors, helping all the participants and experts to work together

Organizing as an conductor

I sat on the third row listening to how in some projects scientists and leaders understand their role as the organizer and the one with the overview, standing in the center where all activities connect, leaving the participants room to “just play their part”

It does create a clear frame, but maybe not as much innovation, free thinking and room for improvisation as other types of leadership – take the jazz session, a very different mindset and understanding. I keep coming back to those two images when debating ways of organizing leadership
