Note and watercolor study of the Common Buzzard bird
The Common Buzzard – Bird of prey portrait
Watercolor by Frits Ahlefeldt
One of the more common birds of prey in Europe, the common Buzzard ( Buteo Buteo in latin ) is keen small mammal hunter ( mice up to rabbits) But the Buzzard also takes snakes, lizards, even insects and worms if no better choices are available. The common buzzard can often seen high in the air scanning the landscape for prey
The Buzzard can be found from Western Europe and all the way to Eastern China and it varies greatly in colors
The common buzzard mate for life and they nest in high trees, preferable in forests
