Day working with a hiking trail

Spent the day working with the Bornholm Coastal Trail

Bornholm Coast trail Watercolors and stories

Text and watercolors by Frits Ahlefeldt

I’ve been busy working, researching, painting, programming and writing up new stories for the website about a 120km. / 70 miles long coast trail out on Bornholm, a small ancient island in the Baltic sea

To me Bornholm is a great place to study the dynamics and challenges of coastal trails. Both how they are challenged by the sea, by climate change, biodiversity loss, and erosion. And also how the shelters, hikers and locals get together about keeping the paths open.
