Strolling around the Botanical Garden of Copenhagen
Watercolor and text by Frits Ahlefeldt
Easy day in Copenhagen, strolling with my daughters around town. The botanical gardens are just around the corner from the apartment and in autumn all the trees and plants seems to be preparing for winter

“Let’s buy these” my 8 year old daughter said, holding up some medical pipetteĀ tubes that she wanted to use for her watercolor paintings. I nodded, wondering how I could have been painting watercolors professionally for 20+ years without ever thinking about that idea.
Great with kids, their eyes and imagination see things beyond what I do. We left the shop and walked the few hundred meters to the Copenhagen Botanical garden, exploring and strolling between all the different plant species and into the century old, amazing glass houses, climbing narrow spiral stairs, watching tiny streams of water between named plants and trees, while fish were swimming in the ponds and small invisible tropical frogs sang with strange sounds.
