Holtug chalk pit, Denmark

Chalk pit turned into nature reserve

Watercolor sketch from a Coastal trail

The trail goes around it, so I didn’t see it at first, only by confidence I almost stumbled across this place while hiking along the Baltic Sea. “it is a great place for watching salamanders” the locals told me. Called Holtug in Danish, an old Chalk pit,  now a nature reserve, where the old chalk pit is left to slowly be reclaimed by nature and a lot of rare species.
