My rough watercolor impressions of the Landscape on the South Coast of Bornholm on a two days Hike along the Coast Trail facing the Baltic Sea
Trees falling into the Baltic Sea, Watercolor
Something I really love doing is hiking and painting watercolors along the trails, even though I find it difficult painting in sun, wind and sand. But to me these hikes are as much about just going with what ever I feel like sketching down, and less about trying to figure out the best perspectives, motives and results.
Still here are the rough watercolors, good and bad, from my latest hike to a small island out in the Baltic Sea. Where I spent a couple of challenged days alone with my watercolor gear on the trail along the sea.
Getting ready to sleep on the night ferry, strange crowd
Sketch – Early morning on the ferry, the truck drivers getting ready to get back on the road
Getting of the ferry, walking along Roenne harbour
Heading out of Roenne, along the old church yard
Stopped by an old twisted willow tree leaning on a stone wall
Back along the sea on a small trail, looking over the sea, fast sketch in strong sunshine.
Sketch of a tree along the trail
Stopped here for a short break
Tea time with my old MSR Simmerlite Burner
A house, old lady came out to feed the sheeps… wonder if a Camera would had been better…
Walking through an old coastal pinewood forest with the sea in the background
Down by a small stream, passing by trees growing up the sides
Finally down on the beach, first thing I meet was an old barrel
Pebbles and ocasionally red cliffs, clay and ever changing fallen stones
All the way I passed many trees that used to be on top of the cliffs, now stood looking lost on the beach, waiting for the waves of the Baltic Sea
More Driftwood sketches, like the strange life of Driftwood
Walked by many small streams
Tea time again fast sketch over my stove, while waiting for the water to boil.
Trees falling into the Baltic Sea, Watercolor, maybe the best watercolor from this hike
Small boat houses, really liked these, and I got a chance to get away out of the sun and wind that was really strong.
second watercolor of the small boat houses
just a snapshot of the gear I brought along, easel, watercolors, and my backpack with all my hiking Gear.
